TIE A YELLOW RIBBON...and junk the CBD

MEDIA ADVISORY
for Tomorrow, May 21

The protest of urban poor residents of North Triangle, Quezon City reaches a fever pitch as they continue to denounce the impending demolition of their homes to make way for the QC-Central Business District (QC-CBD) project.

Tomorrow morning, hundreds of residents are set to form a human chain along the whole stretch of Agham Road to show their solidarity and resistance to the impending demolition.

As a message to president apparent Noynoy Aquino, community leaders led by the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) will sign an oversized yellow ribbon, known as Aquino's campaign logo, with the words “IBASURA ANG QC-CBD!” and other calls appealing to the incoming President to junk this “anti-poor” project.

The QC-CBD aims to build a Makati-style business district in the area covered by the North and East Triangles, threatening to displace around 25,000 urban poor families. It is a national government project by the Arroyo administration and is considered a 'legacy project' of outgoing city mayor Feliciano 'Sonny' Belmonte.
